I never felt a need to choose between fine art and applied art and design. I enjoyed the full freedom of fine art and the design thinking, criteria and collaboration involved in illustration and design. In my work each fed the other. I’ve been lucky to work with many amazing creatives in books, magazines, toys and products. My clients include: Bloomsbury Books, Chronicle Books, Cricket Magazine Group, Disney, Dutton Children’s Book, HarperCollins Children’s Books, Harcourt Brace, Houghton Mifflin, Innovative Kids, The LA Times, Loyola Press, Midwest Living, Milwaukee County Parks, Mudpuppy Toys, Nashville Public Library Foundation, The Southern Poverty Law Center, Springtide Press & Wisconsin Trails. I have also taught illustration at Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design and was able to mentor some inspiring people into their own creative lives.
