My sketchbooks are one of the most essential components in my creative process. They function not only as a sketchbook but also as a journal, photo album, mood board, calendar and scrapbook. I like using books with a bit of history in them, so I repurpose ledgers and diaries I find in junk shops. Sometimes I want a particular size, shape or paper surface and then make my own. I work in my sketchbooks in random page order and take my time in each one. Each lasts a couple of years. I constantly refer to them to find some scrap of relevant inspiration.
